The Indian government has approved a new curriculum for Chartered Accountants (CAs) that includes advanced topics like AI and blockchain. This update aims to equip aspiring CAs with cutting-edge technology skills, making them "future ready." The new scheme will start from July 1, aligning with the 75th anniversary of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It will affect over 8 lakh students currently pursuing CA courses. The upcoming November and December exams will follow the old syllabus, while exams from May and June 2024 will adopt the new curriculum. This change ensures that CAs are prepared for modern technological challenges.
